Departed the beautiful city of Hoi An in a taxi arranged by Lady No 4 at the markets, she just happened to have a brother in law who had a car/taxi and he would drive us to the airport at a cheap price. On the way to Danang Airport we see two golf courses, Montgomerie Links and Danang Golf Club which look pretty good and not expensive to play. Along the to Danang coast, new resorts are being built everywhere and if if they all get completed it will soon look like a mini Gold Coast.

Uneventful 60min flight to Saigon/Ho Chi Minh City, line up for a taxi and just our luck we get a mobile disco. It is like a small version of a Toyota Torago but is fitted out with sub woofers, speakers and a tv screen playing pop music which sounds like a Asian version of Eurovision. The dashboard is covered in little statues of Buddah and other gods, the obligatory pair of nodding dogs, a shrine complete with incense and fruit and the meter. He turns the music down a bit and he says" Phuc", and`we say yes the music is 'phucing' loud and yes the traffic is "phucing heavy" but it works out that his name is Phuc and he hasn't got a phucing clue where our hotel is. This sorted out the music goes back up and we disco our way into the city where he drops us off at an ANZ Bank that we know is very close to the Intercontinal Asiana.

Our Hotel is very new and looks good, we are taken up to the Club Floor to check in and are taken to our room which is a corner room with floor to ceiling windows on two sides looking out over Saigon, yes thanks this will do. We go for walk to check out the local scene and it is getting close to evening rush hour and there are thousands of motorbikes all beeping, weaving around slower cars. But the place looks good, far more modern and developed than Hanoi and a lot cleaner and greener. We tackle crossing a couple of streets and follow the advice that Julie read in newspaper,
"Walk confidently and like a water buffalo in the Mekong, the current will flow around you."

After a bit of retail therapy, we head on back to the Hotel to enjoy the pre dinner canapes and cocktails being served on the Club Floor as we watch the sun slowly set over Saigon. For dinner we decide on the Seafood Buffet at one of the hotel restaurants which was very enjoyable. Rolled back to our room to test one of the many DVD's that we purchased in Hoi An, Eat Pray Love, but even Julia Roberts couldn't keep me awake for too long.
