We set out early from Cesky Krumlov on a bus with wi-fi and a Tom & Jerry telethon in search of Prague. As soon as we departed the tram station, I was in love! This is an amazing city! The buildings are stunning and full of character, and the streets are packed with tourists. Aside from London and New York City during the Christmas holidays, I have never seen a city with more tourists.

While in Prague we are staying in apartments. Once we were all settled in we went for lunch. I had a lentil and sausage soup which was by far the best thing I have eaten since we arrived. We are still baffled by the fact that Brian couldn't have the steamed cabbage, but the wait staff were very helpful in finding something gluten free. After lunch we set out on an orientation walk with Vicky. We went to the main square, across the Charles Bridge (a highlight for me!), and up the main shopping street. We walked down a very sketchy street (complete with peeler bars and pot smokers) to go to a special coffee shop where we enjoyed some very tasty desserts. My nutella crepe ended up being dinner. After that we wandered around town a bit more and picked up some things at the grocery for breakfast. Then we set out again for more touring around the sights. We walked back to the bridge which was beautiful at night, complete with views of the castle lit up as well.

On the way back to the apartments we stopped at a very touristy restaurant for some actual dinner. I had a delicious salad with goat cheese and strawberries. A short walk back to the apartments was exactly what my feet ordered and I am very happy to be resting in bed with my feet up. They are still throbbing, but happy to be done for the day.

A few notes on Prague.. The throngs of tourists mean a lot of tourist shops that are full of things like t-shirts that say 'Czech me out!' among many other tacky souvenirs. It takes away from the magic a bit, but it's easy to be distracted by the buildings and not even notice. There seem to be a lot of young people here who are doing a lot of drinking and partying. However, they aren't drinking anything over 20%25 because of the alcohol ban which could be lifted any day. The weather has been great.
