We've changed the intro of the blog so many times from "Here's the blog, we're in Cairo, to Happy New year, we're in India... loving Bangkok here it goes... Well, we're in China, In Shanghai, which by the way is unbelievable, amazing city, leaving tomorrow for Beijing... We are going to try to upload past info and photos, please read or ignore at will, we miss you all.

Buenos Aires, Argentina (Nov. 1st-Nov. 5th)
On November 1st CyU arrived in the city of Tango and Malbec. We stayed in Recoleta at a nice boutique hotel-Art Hotel. Of course we went to a Tango show, Carlos Gardel, had delicious Argentine steak in Puerto Madera, met taxi drivers who liked to recite poetry for this captive audience and explored some great neighborhoods and restaurants. We walked around for hours a day.

In one of these walks we stumble into a street banner advertising a concert Uddy had to go to. We bought 3 dollar standing room only tickets, the last two available, and headed up to the 7th floor of teatro Colon. Uddy just couldn't bear the thought of standing for my first Mercedes Sosa concert. Sometimes, these desperate situations call for desperate measures. Bribery. Not the kind that demands prosecution but just the kind that would make one who worked at a local anti-corruption agency uneasy...until the lights go down. For a mere few dollars to the seating manager, Uddy and I were given actual seats-don't ask how given that the concert was sold out. A detail not to dwell upon though. In the end, if it wasn't for the fact that we slept so little on the plane the night before, I am sure we would have enjoyed more of her songs. But the few we managed to be awake for were incredible...really. Perhaps if we kept our standing room only seats we wouldn't have fallen asleep so quickly. Is there a moral to this story unfolding after all? Hum, perhaps bribery just doesn't pay, perhaps 9 hour flights require some rest?

While in BA, we had cool and sunny weather except for the last day on Sunday. We were at the San Telmo flea market when the downpour began. On Sundays the neighborhood of San Telmo hosts a huge Sunday market selling basically everything. We escaped the downpour in a restaurant called the Farmacia and had the perfect mid-day elixir, a bottle of wine, while thinking about our next destination-South Africa.
