Day four in Belgium.

Today my dad took me to a small neighbouring city called Leir. I needed to pick up my last remaining souvenirs and I'd be set. Well, needless to say I found tons of things for myself and only bought 2 of the 3 remaining souvenirs. :( The damn store I wanted to go to was closed can you believe that the store closes on Thursdays? Instead of closing I dunno on a Sunday they decide to close halfway through the week what is that?!! That is such backwards thinking geez. Such a big store too!.

I bought myself some nice knit tops for spring and another purse hehe.

We went to this cozy café/pub for lunch and I had ostrich meat!! It's soo good, it tastes like steak. I had it in a really nice white wine sauce with mushrooms (yes Phil and Kendra, I have been eating a lot of mushies since I got here but don't get any ideas! It's still not my fave food) So any ways if you ever get a chance to try ostrich meat go for it! My dad told me that if there was time he'd take me to eat kangaroo meat! Haha I'll be eating cute little cuddly kangaroos lol.

We continued walking around and I took some pictures, Leir looks a lot like Brugge for those that have been to that area of Belgium (Philippe) it's really nice. We walked by a chocolaterie where they were making fresh chocolate it smelled sooo good and they had real bunnies in cages on display outside the store soooooooo cute! I was petting them when my dad took a pic :D

Discovery of the day: a lot of ppl around here have cellphones, no surprise there though, but the cool thing is, they don't really CALL each other, they just send text messages to one another! I didn't believe it at first when my dad told me until i started noticing around the streets and in the pubs ppl pressing keys on their cells as if they were looking for letters, it's pretty funny. My dad also told me that when you go to the grocery stores and you're paying, the clerk doesn't bag your groceries, EVER!! You have to pay then quickly pack your stuff before the next person who is paying can pack theirs, that's annoying! It's those little things we're used to that we take for granted.

Saturday will be my last entry. We are taking off for France (Bretagne and then Paris the last three days before my flight back home) and I won't have access to a comp. I am not looking forward to the 9 hour drive to the beach house. I detest long car rides.. And crammed in a car with a 2 yr old and a 9 yr old is going to just be lovely!

But alas, it's better to be knowing that I'm on the way to a beach while the rest of you are freezing in either the states or Ottawa/Toronto :P
