Just going to have a quiet one today on this our last day in Rome.
Will sit and have a slow lunch and 500 mls of wine and people watch, gelati for afternoon tea then a slow dinner and some more wine to end the day !! bit hard I know !
A couple of observations to note.....
All the men and women are very well groomed.
There is an obvious lack of children everywhere.
Dogs are welcome in shops and eateries.
Smoking is prevalent.
There is no take away coffee (drink it standing at coffee shop)
Fast food choices are limited to a pastry for breakfast, or a panini/calzone for lunch.
There are few obese Italians.
Lunch was had on the roadside at a local eatery just up from our accom in via urbana - pasta with ham and mushrooms and a salad plus of course a bottle of local white wine (see pic), its a glorious day with the sun shining @ 24 .C just perfect to enjoy the scenery.
After lunch I strolled back home and passed a bakery (did not know it was there, shame i found it on my last day) and got a collection of biscotti (some chocolate dipped) to enjoy the afternoon away. I am going to be huge on my return !!
Dinner was at a lovely restaurant near the Termini train station, we were just wandering and the waiter encouraged us in !! he told us he has an Australian girlfriend who he met in Jan this yr here in Rome (he is a part time tour guide) she has moved here to be with him and he hopes to move to Australia soonish.
Dinner was ravioli and pizza and some Lazio (Rome area) white wine!!
Off to the Tuscan country side tomorrow, not sure if we will have internet.
Ciao.
