Warm outside, but inside it's a bit chilly
Spin - definitely a hard one Aaron!

What is it with me and keyboards? My little ASUS we travelled with lost its capitals, then several other characters before eventually giving up the ghost completely, forcing us to buy a flexible board.  Now the z on my PC keyboard is intermittent (you see, that character hasn't worked for several days and now it has worked first time!).

It's been a mixed week of anticipation and pissed-offness, both directly as a result of my employer's incompetence in the timetabling and management stakes.

The best managers have the ability to not only lead but also to read the people they're charged with supervising, the ability to switch tactics at the drop of a hat depending upon the person and the situation. I wonder where these leaders are.  I posted this on my Facebook and a friend responded by saying 'in text books mainly’ and I have to agree.  I did a bit of Management Theory and Organisational Culture at university and I can honestly say I’ve never come across a more disorganized and unreadable lot than the ones I work for currently.

The college hasn't recruited as many students as expected, therefore they are not running as many courses, and therefore people like me get reduced hours.  My hours have been reduced from 4.4 (yes, a whole 4.4) to zero and I’ve had to wait until 2 days before teaching starts to find that out.  The news was delivered by Email at 1700 hrs on a day I had spent 9 hours with prospective students getting them through The Splodge (actually it’s called The Splash, but Dave nicknamed it The Splodge) an event the college runs each year for all students in the Sixth Form Academy.  Nobody can find out exactly how much funding is attached to each student, but my guess is it’s megabucks.

Another reason the college might not have recruited as many students as they would like is the total lack of marketing strategy, losing application forms, inserting incorrect requirements for courses into course literature, buggering up the website blah blah blah blah blah, and so it goes on.

However, all this has led to a very good thing too …………………. We are planning another trip, yey!  Dave works for a research and development company and the funding lasts for another year.  However, if the product they are testing doesn’t work the likelihood is funding will be withdrawn.  Not good, I hear you cry, but yes it is good, because then we will both be ‘free and easy’ to bugger off again!  When we came back last year we said we would never do long trips again.  Well, we’re only thinking of a year, and actually a year isn’t a very long time when you walk or cycle places is it?  That’s called back pedaling :)

My brain hurts now, back to QVC.  Can anyone tell me what that Dennis Basso Water Resistant Ruffle Neck Iridescent Coat is about?

Laters

PS still no sign of Mrs Fox although I dreamt she had a huge brood and was living under my nutty neighbour's house last night
