Got your attention, didn't I?  Late last night we crossed the International Date Line.  Today, Jamie the Cruise Director had a celebration of the event with an intiation ceremony for all of us who had never crossed the International Date Line via ship before - i.e  "Slimy Pollywogs!"  King Neptune held court, with many beautiful mermaids by his side, and passed sentence upon the Slimy Pollywogs after they were prosecuted by the Pirate Prosecutor for various and sundry crimes.  There was no defense counsel present for any of us misfortunate Slimy Pollywogs and King Neptune was immune to the pleas of mercy from the accused.  Several Slimy Pollywogs(thankfully not me!) were subjected to sliming with, what appeared to be, colored shaving cream, having the contents of their guts removed aftern being hacked open with a giant saw, and lastly thrown in the pool to pay for their crimes.  The fortunate of us were only forced to kiss a fish - yes a real one - before being released and designated as "Shellbackers" - one who has crossed the International Date line by ship. I actually kissed a real fish, on its lips, as did many others. Somehow, Jamie the Cruise Director actually got grown up, supposedly sophisticated adults, to parade around the pool in a line and kiss an actual fish - on its actual lips!  Amazing!

The rest of my very taxing day (LOL) was spent reading by the pool, sipping pina coladas and rum and soda.  Doug E. - I thought of you as I had a Captain's Rum and soda! I am about to finish another book so my big stressor of the day tomorrow will be what to read next.  I could really get used to this.

Tommorrow we stop at our first port in Nuku Hiva.  There will be a native BBQ and show of some sort and hopefully some trinket shopping.  We will have travelled over 2800 nautical miles to get there.  I hope to take some good photos to post for all of you to see.  Until next time....
