The past two days have been very busy.  Yesterday we spent a large part of the day visiting our two service sites.  I was able to see where I will be working at CEOLI with disabled people.  I don't want to say too much about it now because I will definitely be able to give a better description once I actually complete my first shift on Monday.  For now I can say that I am nervous.. and that it is going to be challenging.  But, I feel really lucky to be able to give back to the country of Bolivia.  I'm also thankful that I will get to connect with and hopefully come to understand a different class of people than the typical study abroad student is exposed to.
Yesterday was unbelievably rainy.  I will post a video of a flooded street we traveled down yesterday evening.  There have been a lot of problems with water in Cochabamba so the citizens seem to be very happy when it rains.  The positive side of the rain is how beautiful all of the plants, trees, and flowers look once it stops.  It's also excellent napping weather.
Despite all of the rain yesterday today has been hot and beautiful.  This morning we visited the famous Christ statue on the hill.  Construction began in 1988 to commemorate the Pope's visit to Cochabamba.  The location of the Christ statue gives a perfect view of the entire city.  I took so many pictures.
Last night Nora and I went downtown and had beers at a restaurant.  We invited a couple of girls from Brazil to come sit with us and before we knew it there were around ten Brazilians at our table.  They didn't know much Spanish but spoke English very well.  It was interesting to talk with them because they were university students like us.
We had planned to go out tonight but unfortunately I'm not feeling very good.  I had managed to avoid an upset stomach for the entire week but I believe a slice of avocado that I ate at the market today has come back to haunt me.  So.. enjoy the pictures and cross your fingers that I do not get sick.  :)
