In Tain Beddie gets a new front tyre and I find an unexpectedly rich seam of Heather Ale in the Co-Op. This is excellent and makes up for the Heather Ale fueled frenzy at Aberdour Bay.
We are now in Sutherland and quite definitely in the highlands. At Clashmore we make a detour to find the ruined mill at Spinningdale described by HVM [ISA 8.3]. Finding it turns out to be quite easy and it's well worth a picture as it’s just a cobweb of a building that looks like the next breath of wind will blow it away. Unfortunately we drive past twice and in each case are unable to stop. Sorry.
About half a mile further on we do stop and take a look back to the Cromarty Firth just as HVM did. He was here in the autumn so the colours aren’t quite as he described and there aren’t any destroyers (do we have destroyers anymore?) but it’s still quite a view.
We take another detour to Dornoch which HVM wanted to do but didn’t have time. We have a long way to go also and don’t hang about but we do note that Dornoch has most definitely put burning witches behind it and seems to have gone in for antique shops in a big way.
(Oh, we do have some destroyers - I just checked)
