This morning we dedicated to doing laundry. After 4 days of traveling and the limited space on our bike, we needed to do laundry.
In Grand Marais we found a combination NAPA Auto / Laundry. This was great because not only did we need to do our Laundry but I (Dave) needed to change out a burned out head lamp on the bike. NAPA had the lamp. I found out that changing a head light was not easy on an R1200RT BMW. Took me over 1-1/2 hours to do so, but we got it changed.
After checking out of the motel, we headed south on US-61. Our destination – Bayfield, WI. This was one of our longer days, over 200 miles.
Cascade Falls
Just south of Grand Marais is Cascade Falls. This was not on our 'falls' list, but we decided to check it out after Deb got a tip from a lady in the Laundry. This is a must see if you are passing thru Grand Marais. It is actual a series of spectacular falls as you hike up the the Cascade River.
Royal Canadian Mounted Police - Art Exhibit
Further down the road in Silver Bay, we stopped at a small art exhibit. They had some cool pictures of Canadian Mounted Police, as you can see.
We also stopped briefly at the Silver Bay Falls.
Split Rock Lighthouse
One of the most visited lighthouse in the USA is Split Rock Lighthouse. This year was the 100 anniversary of the lighthouse. Very picturesque.
After all the hiking and sightseeing, we realized it was late afternoon and we had only traveled 60 miles!. So we purposed to ride to our destination. We zoomed south on Hwy 61 to Duluth. The wind picked up and it got cooler. Duluth was quite industrial as we rode thru, not very scenic.
Then into Wisconsin. The sun came out and it broke 70 degrees for the first time on this trip. Light was fading, still an hour to go. Traveling now thru forested area, our main focus was on the sides of the road - looking out for deer. I took the left side, Deb the right. And we saw quite a few deer. No close calls - thank you Lord!
We rolled into Bayfield beat and tired, but it turn out to be a great day.

How good to hear that you are warming up a bit. Wondered if you were ever going to see the sun instead of the rain and cooler temps. The falls look beautiful from the pictures and pictures usually don't due senic beauty justice. Praying that you will continue to be blessed by the warm weather. Seeing any colors?
