bird for Canadians, we had never thought about where they lived naturally. I mean, what do they do without bars to climb? Lol
We're having a wonderful time with our hosts Rhys and Penny. Brian has finally had the opportunity to taste his first Aussie beer. He said it tastes like wallaby piss – not really! We spent many good hours chatting away about all sorts of things.
We went out to Lindburn Park for a gorgeous walk around the lake. The air was heady with the smell of eucalyptus. Usually this is a place where you can see dozens of kangaroos that are very used to humans – perfect for newbie travellers to OZ. However, the early morning thunderstorm had them diving for cover. Right when we were about to give up, Rhys spotted a roo with her little joey! We watched them for awhile and saw them bounce about. It must have been a good omen and the wildlife famine was lifted. Just after that we saw a little echidna and a red bellied black snake (2nd most venomous in Victoria). We also had our fill of birds. Kookaburras, cockatoos, red cheeded parrots, rainbow larakeets, rozellas, to name just a few! We went to a bird sanctuary and had a close up view of the cockatoos and rozellas. Then we
An evening of pizza making and wine as well as a visit from a friendly possom was a perfect end to our day. Not bad for day on, eh?
