It’s Valentine’s, Habibi!  Everywhere we go, music is in the air filled with declarations of love for one another.  But wait - that’s everyday and not just today :)

We were very fortunate to catch up with some of our traveling friends from Syria by chance yesterday, so we had a lovely breakfast of strawberries while catching up on the last few travel months.

Then we went for a romantic walk along the waterfront.  Stopped for a moment to take in the view, but the stink of the Nile invaded our senses and we quickly moved on.  Other couples walked hand in hand in this romantic setting and didn’t seem to mind at all, while women in red head scarves dotted the scene.

Met up with our friends in Cairo.  It’s amazing how close you can become in such a short period of time.  Truly kind people, I feel very blessed to have known them and spent time together.

Took a tour of old Islamic Cairo today and walked through a mosque that was over 1000 years old.  These ancient places of love, with ornate decorations to display this affection.  Places where people come to proclaim this love publicly - so much so that it can be seen on their foreheads.

Back at the hotel, we sat around and enjoyed chocolates and Zalabia into the late, late evening.

No bed for these two lovers tonight.  No sleep either.  It’s off to the airport after midnight to get ready for the 3:50am flight to Istanbul…
