Woke at the crack of dawn - 5am to be exact.  Wanted to get out as soon as we could so as not to raise any suspicion to those around.  We really shouldn’t have been camping on this property and didn’t want any problems to come to the nice man who let us stay!  Noticed a few vehicles entering the park last night, and some backed up to shine their lights on us and get a better look (darn little reflective tabs!).  So we were completely out of routine by not making coffee or cooking breaky!

Made quite the spectacle back at the SPAR as all the locals went in for their morning paper, and we were busy eating caramel cakes and  chugging energy drinks (no coffee!) for our breakfast of champions before hitting the road.  A few towns beyond we were able to find the 2 basic necessities of morning:  coffee and toilet.  So all was good with the world once again.

Pedaling along it almost seemed like the hills would never end - all up and no down (sometimes leaving the coast is difficult).  But finally it broke and we were able to start making some time.  The goal was to get just outside of Edinburgh to meet Brian’s blacksmithing friend, but after several unsuccessful attempts to reach him by phone, we changed our plans.  Buying a new map with campgrounds marked (my ‘source’ is losing more and more credibility), we found a campground not too out of the way.

Now as interesting as camping on the fly was last evening, it was really not that enjoyable.  Sure, you save a few pounds, but you have to cycle until dark, go without showers (which we really need), and buy your water.  A few major obstacles for us (plus you have to put up with a grumpy husband).

So tonight it’s a little farm (small and quiet), where the cows chase you while you drive up the lane, kittens proudly show off their kill, and the farmer’s sideburns are as thick as his accent.  It will be sound sleeping tonight…
