...Person Terminal 3.  After almost a year of planning and many more of dreaming, we are here.  Brian keeps calling this a trip of a lifetime, but I'm determined to say it is 'the first trip of our lifetime' instead.  Unwilling to resign myself to the fact that this may be the only time we do something like this.

Our bikes were less of a hassle that we'd anticipated.  After only falling off the cart once, we were in the line waiting to check in.  A little extra fee and a separate drop off point and they were gone!  We almost wished that we'd stuffed more into the bike boxes rather than the checked baggage as that's a great way to ship extra stuff.  Although our legs might think extras to be a bad thing once we start biking...

Going through security was a fun experience.  We were asked to go to a separate door where there was no one else that I could see. .  As we approached, I saw signs of 'RESTRICTED AREA', and "NO ADMITTANCE' and I wondered what we had done!  'TEST EXPERIMENT' was another daunting sign.  After the usual baggage scan and metal detector there was a separate chamber where blasts of air went for about 30 seconds.  Brian said it's a low wattage x-ray.  Interesting to say the least!

Still amazed at how clam I felt this morning.  I had anticipated numerous makes in the night with anxiety of things that were forgotten, or problems to be faced, but this was not to be.  Too good to be true?  As soon as the car started to leave the driveway the butterflies began.  But anything that's forgotten we will do without!  Having such limited access to one's belongings can be daunting, but freeing all the same.  I've been organizing and planning for months, let's hope it pays off!
