Where I stayed
We thought once in Bangkok we should take the whole package in that the city had to offer. So after a day of strolling around on China town and the MBK shopping mall we met up with some new friends from our hostel to explore the night...
I had heard of ping pong shows before but I struggled to believe the details. A girl from our hostel had been to the neon-light district before, she guided us around until she had us all standing in front of a particular strip club. She said the show there had "impressive" pole dancers. What I expected was dancing girls taking of their clothes until they just hopped around in their knickers - I had seen strippers before at our A-levels party and it was a good laugh, but this was completely different. As we all entered the bar through the curtain there were about ten girls on a stage dancing around like god had made them. I wasn't prepared for that at all and felt absolutely embarrassed. I didn't know where to look so I tried to focus on their heads. Even that turned out to be quite tricky, because if you focused on their face for too long they would give you seductive looks.
We sat down and ordered a beer when the German girl next to me whispered: "I would feel so weird coming here with my boyfriend." Really? That would give you a reason to feel weird? Being there with my boyfriend was the least weird thing about the whole situation. I thought it was much weirder watching girls blowing out candles, tooting a horn, shooting darts at balloons and smoking two cigarettes at once - and they didn't do that with their mouths!!!
I can cross the Thai-strip-club experience off my list now and will probably never go again.
