OK so we've made it finally to the other side of the pond and we have arrived in beautiful beautiful Vancouver and now I am the one with a bit more time to tell you all about my impressions (when Simon gives me a moment!)
We came via Calgary which when we changed flights at 12 midday was blazing sunshine yet -25degrees - a little bit chilly for me .... and the poor airport men were all bundled up with only their noses peeping out of their balaclavas clouded with their own breath. So Vancouver at zero is a blessing and as they just had a big dump of snow a few days before we arrived looks magical... all the wooden buildings crusted with icing. And yesterday the mountains made an appearance from within the mists and encircled the whole place, glistening in the sun. Just lovely.
We are staying with Simon's Mum who lives a little way out from the city centre in the lower mainland (the suburbs is the best way to compare if you want to). The houses are surrounded by trees and green belts run up into the hills. The local bear (not Jim but a real live bear!!!) has not yet made an appearance but I have seen black squirrels playing outside and have made friends with the two resident cats (I am their newest slave I think). So far we have been manically running around the local area (which itself is massive considering that we haven't got as far as downtown yet) and today (drum-roll....) we started the search for our van... which is exciting if a bit daunting (like picking a new home cum car cum experience!). I want to wait to give proper first impressions until I have seen a bit more but it is a lovely place and I can;t wait to explore it.....watch this space. LinzXX

The Introduction of Jim!
Hey Linz and Simon
2Weeks since youve been gone and, to be honest, its flown by! Good start on the blogging Linz, very descriptive and beautiful, wish i was there and not stressful and foggy London!
Also glad to see the first pics of Jims American Adventures- but why has he suddenly come out of his shell and making snow angels- he never did that with me!!
Hope your having fun and enjoying Canada so far
Love Jon Bon xxx
