I awoke feeling great and when I saw that there was a big wind my heart sunk until a second later it rose majestically as I realised it was blowing West to East, so I jumped on my bike and was blown along at such a rate that I managed to cycle 100m. I stopped off at a Shell station that housed a magnificient diner 40m into the ride which replenished me with an amazing breakfast of eggs and bacon - why can the Americans do bacon like they do and we don't? Stopped for a salad in Wilbur 70m into the ride and then headed on to Davenport for my first 100m day.
I was very very happy given that I had only managed 55, 52 and 42 miles on each of the proceeding days. However, was spent. I felt ok, but my batteries were clearly empty after nearly 9hrs on the road. I felt cold and tired and was fortunate that the restaurant opposite the motel was a mexican run by mexicans - always a good sign especially when they don't speak much english! Had some amazing fajitas and a maguerita and then fell sound asleep - happy in the knowledge that I would only have to do 40m the next day.
