Under Palm Trees

Merry Christmas Everyone,
We have had a white Christmas, if white
sand counts. We're camped at Xpu-ha under palm trees, a beautiful
beach 20 km south of Playa Del Carmen. The water is warm, clear, just
great.
Today, lets see, we got up, um, did not
to do too much, and certainly not too fast. Met several other campers
from all over the world, Jon and Julie, who shipped their VW van over
from Austria, and have driven to Alaska from Florida, then back to
here, and on there way to Belize and points south. Ralph and Patty
from Michigan, who have been coming down to Mexico camping for about
20 years. We also met some very nice Argentinian people who have moved
to the Yucatan, ..... Many nice people.
We all compared stories, and confirmed
Tampico is one of the few cities where it is easy to find the
Policia. They all avoid Tampico now, and we may on our next trip too.
This afternoon we did make it back to
the beach and had a nice swim. Looking forward to snorkeling
tomorrow. We will give you a report on how that is. There is a stretch of beach without many people, so Kona can run, chase the
ball and swim off leash. People walking by get a kick out of him
swimming and chasing the ball and jumping over the waves.... being so
excited about the water, beach, getting his ball, swimming, life.
Last night we had our Christmas Eve
dinner at a charming outdoor restaurant in the trendy cobblestone
area of Playa Del Carmen. The air was balmy and warm, not trying to
rub it in, just trying to tell you what it was like, fyi... Kona was
able to join us, he just ordered a water, Cathie and I ordered off
the main menu and had a delicious dinner. Kona seems to know he has
to behave when we take him to a restaurant, just lies down beside us
and is very good. I think he might be trying to trick us to take him
to restaurants more often. He likes being around all the people. Kona
usually requests a corner or end table so its a bit private.
OK, we're going out for Christmas
dinner. Merry Christmas to all of you, Hope you had a really nice
day. Its been nice to receive everyone's comments. We will try to
troubleshoot our emailing issue, and will reply as soon as we can.
Feliz Navidad!
Cathie and Ross
Kona too.
