Now, a little bit about our day. We left Barstow, California a little later today cause we didn't think it would be so hot--boy, were we wrong. It was 90 by 9:00 when we left. The first hour was so hot again-cause, dah it's the desert.
We got close to Helendale and Dave dropped me off at a restaurant to cool off and he went on to find Elmer Long's artistic collection of bottle art. Very unique!!
Dave came to pick me up and we were on our way. It cooled off as we got into the mountains but wow was it interesting coming down the mountains. Traffic was moving so fast and we were moving like 60-65 miles per hour and I'm freaking out. I think Dave was even a little freaked out. Comment by Dave: The California road surfaces coming down from the mountains are grooved in the direction of travel. Narrow ridges contact the tires and with the tires we have cause the car to dart from side to side making it a bit un-nerving when in heavy and fast traffic. Throw in the occasional motor cycle rider that suddenly passes between adjoining cars at the division line between lanes and it can be stressfull.
We got to our hotel here in Pasadena, cooled off and then decided to see the Lone Ranger movie!!
