What I did
Today, we are at our final stop in Chicago, Illinois where we will spend the next two days. Tomorrow is election day and we are really hoping that we will have had some influence in this election. We hope that we will have changed the way people and the candidates have thought, and will think.
Here in Chicago, in 1974, Gerald Ford delivered his infamous Veterans of Foreign Wars Speech. This speech was delivered on Veteran’s Day November 11, 1974. The speech was addressed to veterans, former soldiers, who had fought in wars outside of the United States. Ford, being a part of the organization (Veterans of Foreign Wars) felt very strongly about his words.
The speech was intended to provide a sort of emotional comfort and respect to those who had served and those who had lost family members serving
I thank Ford for delivering this speech. Throughout the years, presidents have been known for giving uplifting speeches on presidents day. My advice to Obama or Romney is to provide uplifting for those who suffered on the war in Iraq that is now, hopefully, coming to a close. If you can provide comfort for our sorrows, the country will be that much easier to live in.
Cody, Tukea, and I are going to go visit the Elk’s Memorial in Chicago now. We’ll be sure to bring back pictures!
