The battle at Seminary Ridge took place on the first day of fighting, July 1, 1863. On this building is a cupola in which General Buford utilized to look out over the nearby fields to help in directing his troops. During the war this building was used as a hospital for the wounded from both sides.
The National Cemetery is where Lincoln spoke The Gettysburg Address.
We also saw the "cyclorama" at the National Park Visitor's center. The paintings that make up the circle must number about 15 and they are huge. As you look at these paintings you are in a circle and walking around to see the whole 360 degree view. These date back to the late 1800's and were found in a warehouse with watermarks and lots of damage. They have now been restored and are amazingly beautiful. Also a strong reminder of the massive fighting that these men were engaged in.
