Day 167 - Day 171 - (167-168)  We finished off our visit with Alan and his family by watching football and gold panning (nothing for ME) and having a great BBQ.  (Patriots win in the last 5 seconds)!!

(Day 169) Our visit with our new Alaska friends, Don and Becky was so great!  What wonderful people and we are so glad to have met them. We had a great dinner, all four of us and played a fun card game and Farkle (also fun).   We left Nick behind the next day, and Don left for hunting, so Becky and I had a great girls trip of shopping!!  Thanks, Bec, I needed that!!

(Day 170) Then it was off to Bakersfield, Ca (half-way point for us to get to LA) and were smack dab in the middle of an Orange Orchard.  Too bad it wasn't in season because they let you pick as many oranges as you like.  Nice!!

(Day 171) Off to LA on Thursday.  We passed over the Grape Vine Pass - elevation 4,144'.  Nick had some white knuckles as he went up and over and even more so are we entered North Hollywood where we were going to take the coach to leave in Nick's cousin's driveway.  Unfortunately, there was a bit of an lip from the street to the driveway, and we have since learned that by scraping your hitch, you can have all kinds of wiring problems because even though they are protected they are not impervious to being scraped all the way down to the wires, and it happened more than once in Alaska...so we are on the street in front of her house, and we may have to move it every 72 hours, but that is a small price to pay and we are so thankful that Karen was able to accommodate us.  We are now in Sherman Oaks, staying with my dear cousin Virginia and she told us that Blair Underwood lives at the end of the street.  I'll have to make a point of walking by one of these days.  We are here for 10 days and this will be our base of operation to see all the relatives and friends that we have in the area!  AND, I get to pick up my camera here and can't wait to get it back again!

So enjoy some of the rural photos, the Barns are back!!!  Lots of farming, a look at our campsite and a few other things that I thought would be interesting.

Hope you are all well.  Call us anytime!!
