We get a briefing from our pilot and are each given a pair of waders to wear though out our day. We have to be in the water getting off the plane, and we travel across the tundra and some mud along the way so it was easier than getting your feet wet and cold.
Where we land is part of the Katmai National Park across from Kodiak Island. We see the start of the Aleutian Mountain Range as we go. And, even a couple of volcanoes one of which is still steaming
All in all we thing we have seen somewhere between 20 - 25 bears. We see several sows with cubs, both twins and triplets! It is soooooo cool to see those cute faces! Some of these bears are huge! They tell us that we are not a threat and since they have so much food right now, they are not interested in us (where have I heard THAT before)...But it turns out they could care less, even the ones on the hill playing see us, but can't be bothered.
We move 4 times and our last move is later in the day and we go around the bend of the river and this is where we see the cubs. About 9 in all by 4 different moms.
As you know, I have more bear photos, maybe that needs to be my second book!!! Hmm.
