As you can tell from the title, we are experience a full day of rain.  It is very interesting how deep the colors of the mountains get in the rain.  Just like making a sand sculpture - dry it is very light, but wet is a much darker color.  I could go around and take all the same pictures and you would think they are different mountains.  But, I won't...

We went to the Minuteman II Missle site that is now run by the National Park Service.  It as quite amazing.  They show you all around the upstairs part which was for the living quarters and the security people and then the actual silo is downstairs where the launching would have taken place if necessary.  Currently only 450 sites are active in this country - down from 1000. Hopefully we will never need them; but if we do, we will be ready!  Nick was going to be a Missle launch operator when he was in the Air Force, so he was very interested in all of this.  Unfortunately for him he had kidney stones and they discharged him. (Who thinks the Air Force knew what they were doing??? - Show of Hands?)...There is another place that you can also see but it is outside so we will save that for tomorrow.  Saturday and Sunday are supposed to be okay.

So here are just a few photos  - these I took on my phone. You will see the mountains in the rain...

This has not been a great last few days for family member - my dear cousin once-removed on my dad's side, one of those relations and a much loved friend and family member passed away this week after a long illness and we just heard that Nick's older and only brother is suffering from congestive heart failure and was admitted last night to a hospital in Tucson where he lives part time.  The prognosis is not good, so we wait and see.

There is something to be said for being "out of touch"...

Stay well

Dear Sandy and Nick, So sorry to hear your sad family news. The loss of your Dear Cousin and then the news of Egor's health issues. He seems all too young for this kind of challenge. Sending prayers, good thoughts and love your way.
