Today is day 20 of our journey!  We are starting out from Sioux City, SD on our way to Minnesota.  Elko New Market is the name of the town.  Small but charming!  The moment we got here (at 4:00 p.m) we were greeted to a monster squall and sirens on the TV to let us know that we were in a tornado warning!  Oh great!  But, as luck would have it, after our brief squall out comes the sun and no tornados or even much thunder or lightning.  Thanks for the thunderous welcome!

Today we got along beautifully, my rant really did pay off!!  Sorry Nick - had to be said...all's well. I really enjoyed your comments and a couple had me laughing out loud!  Thanks Caryl for the trip down memory lane (I can't remember where I was yesterday never mind 38 years ago) but I do remember "Pleasant Bay" and I'm glad that we have given you something to remember us by for all these years...we will definitely talk that over when we see you and Richard.

We drove through a Wind Turbine Field - I guess that's what you would call it.  There were over 100 in this area and it was quite a sight to see.  Unfortunately it won't translate in the photos, but I'll post one anyway.

In both Sioux City and along the route we took today there were the affects of a terrible ice storm. The damage to the trees was devastating.  In our campground alone there must have been 10 big limbs down and several smaller trees lost their tops and several branches.  I remember one year in New England they had one in Maine when Christian was living up there after college.  I remember him saying how eerie it was to hear them snapping off all night long.

We are now entering Minnesota - the Land of 10,000 Lakes - so far I have seen 7 and I'm glad that it's not on my Bucket List to see them all or I'd never leave the state.  But the ones I have seen today and those that I saw while living in Minnesota are beautiful as is their park system.

As we were driving we were again seeing many large tracts of land for farming with big farms and some old barns among them, but mostly you see the huge grain elevators and the blasted trains (I can still hear that awful whistle at 3:00 a.m.).

Road kill was good today - another deer...Oh, and a dog - always sad to see. AND, a Rat - I'll pass on that...but........"NICK - DINNER IS READY :) ...  hmmmmmmmmm!  He liked it!!!
