Today we left Greenville, SC for Gatlinburg, TN.  We made it in 4 hours which wasn't bad since we were negotiating roads with lots of truck traffic, high winds, and climbing elevation.  Nick did quite well.

The best thing was that we stopped for gas and bought a little over 50 gallons and it was $3.05 per gallon!  We couldn't believe it.  Wish we needed another 25 gallons.

You'll be glad to know that I did find another dead armadillo for my road kill stew tonight!!  I think I may even have seen a fox, but he didn't have enough meat left to bother with - but that armadillo - hardly touched...Red Neck Stew - mmmmm, good!!

I also want you to know that my first bullet is going to Puxatony Phil - wasn't that rodent all excited about an early spring?  What?  I don't THINK so...although after we got to Gatlinburg it got quite nice - about 77 degrees.  Felt good.

We saw some of the Smokey Mountains today, went thru the Pisgah National Forest, crossed the Continental Divide and the Appalachian Trail and walked a nice trail after we got the coach all nailed down.  Gatlinburg is quite a busy little city - probably a lot like Mrytle Beach.  Some is Alpine Village and the rest is restaurants, shops, motel, hotel and attractions.

Groundhog hides make great banjo heads.

Happy trails.

4 inches of snow here! Don't want to read any complaints about the weather! We may have some green leaves by the time you reach MN but don't count on it!!!

And if you get the chance, go on a raft trip on the Pigeon River. Anyone can do it and It is a great ride. Especially easy for a top kayak person like you.

There was also a well known place for breakfast downtown. It was pretty good. But if you have to choose, skip the breakfast and take the raft. We spent a full week in the area (went to Biltmore one day). The raft trip was the one best thing.
