I was born in Sumter, SC in 1982. When I was two years old, my family moved to TX so that my parents could attend Bible college and learn Spanish. My brother was also born there (1985). A year later (1986), we moved to Oaxaca, Mexico where we served as missionaries for almost two years under Southern Methodist Missions (SMM). It was also there that I asked Christ to be my Lord and Savior.
We moved back to the US so that my dad could finish his master's degree, but missions were still in our future. My parents felt God calling them to another Spanish-speaking country and partnered up with The Evangelical Alliance Mission (TEAM) as well as SMM and we moved to Venezuela, South America in 1990.
I lived there for 11 years until 2001 when I graduated high school and moved back to the US to follow in my parent's footsteps and attend Southern Methodist College in Orangeburg, SC. There, I found a renewed passion for missions and people as I attended college as well as church services at Cornerstone Community Church. So far, I have had the opportunity to be a part of 3 major mission trips: Italy (2003), Guatemala (2004), and Venezuela (2006). After graduating in 2005, I taught Spanish for four years at a local private school. I also married my college sweetheart, Quinn, in 2007. We have two children QJ (2009) and Jalyn (2011). I now work as a bilingual Customer Service Representative for a major insurance company. I also continue to serve at Cornerstone as a youth leader. Though I have had to put off traveling for a while in order to meet the demands of a career and family, I plan to start taking mission trips again in 2013. My blogs are here to reminisce and hopefully inspire others to follow God wherever He leads. I also hope to encourage parents with young children that traveling can be fun! (Yes, with the kids!) Remember: The road is never easy, but God promises we will never walk it alone!
