One day I was walking with a female who was not so much a friend but more a professional acquaintance and asked, "Why do you think people love to hate me when they don't really know me?" She thought about my question for a while and told me she didn't know, we walked along in silence. She finally said, "Wow. You're doing it right now!" I was confused and asked her to expand on that idea and she said, "I can't think of a single reason why anyone would want to hate you but that just makes me want to hate you all the more." I said, "Just because you can't think of a reason is not a reason." She acknowledged that I might be right and we walked along in silence.
