Hurricane season! Hanna and Gustav drench TravelPod bloggers

By starlagurl

All across the western hemisphere, TravelPod bloggers found themselves soaked to the bone by Hurricane Hanna. I’ve selected a few interesting blogs from people whose plans were soured because of the weather.

In Jamaica, International Service student Smiling_Nomad toughed out the storm safe inside her home in Kingston. She was without water and electricity for quite a few days. After the storm, she went for a tour of the island to witness some of the damage that had occurred. Her descriptions and photos are pretty remarkable. Read about it, in her entry entitled, Life Post-Gustav.

Medical student Robertpallas found himself stuck inside as the streets in Leon, Nicaragua turned into “rivers” and a state of emergency was called. Read his descriptions in the entry “State of emergency over”

And in the U.S.A., there were rainstorms all over the place. I found a cute little story from Pennsylvania, where junior high school teacher, DownUnder08 planned to attend a big party celebrating the end of the exchange program. Thanks to tropical storm Hanna, the rain came down in “buckets”. They made the best of it though, by swimming outside in the rain and moving the party indoors, to a nearby barn. Check out his blog entry, Our reunion.

Did you get caught up in the storm?

Tell us about it in the TravelPod travel forums.

See you there!
